This is then repeated again when B.1 infected some unknown rodent (mouse like) species in southern Africa, and spilled over in at least 5 or 6 events to become Omicron.

Have there been new developments on this? Last time I checked, Omicron was actually most likely the result of chronic infection in immunocompromised patients. Wrote about it back in the day here, interviewing some experts and actually thinking a rodent origin quite possible; in the end, the data support a different hypothesis: https://www.protagonist-science.com/p/where-did-the-sars-cov-2-omicron
